It can be effective in reducing the emotional intensity of traumatic memories, which can in turn reduce the need to use drugs or alcohol to cope.

By reintegrating the body with the mind, somatic therapy can lead to profound healing and provide an effective alternative for those who find traditional talk therapies limited, helping individuals recover from addiction by addressing the somatic symptoms often linked with traumatic stress.
